End of the 70’s
Maritime activity is started with the extraction of sand from the Río Eume and the Ría de Betanzos for its commercialization.
Year 1989
After the prohibition of sand extraction from the rivers, maritime activity is changed to dredging in ports and beaches.
Year 1992
The company OMVAC, SL (Obras Marítimas Vázquez Cabana S.L.), which currently gives name to our ships, is constituted and starts operating with diggers on board of the ships.
Year 1993
The suction dredger BELOMOSKI is chartered for several years carrying out different operations along the Spanish coast.
Years 1997- 2003
The company opens to international market carrying out the work of dredging the Port of Boavista in Cabinda, the Port of Malongo and the Port of Cabinda in Angola.
Year 2008
The ship OMVAC OCHO is built in the shipyard Freinaval in Ferrol and the pontoon OMVAC NUEVE.
Year 2009
SThe construction of the new offices’ facilities and the maintenance dry dock is finished at the Polígono de Vidreiro in Pontedeume.
Year 2011
The construction of the TSHD OMVAC DIEZ is finished, starting the Company’s expansion to South America.
Year 2015
In May, this year, the official ship launching of the mechanical split-hull hopper dredger OMVAC DOCE is carried out.
Year 2022
The construction of the TSHD OMVAC CATORCE is finished, which complies with the IMO TIER III of the ILO for the reduction of polluting emissions and greenhouse effect in order to face the challenge of carrying out our work in a sustainable way.

We try to maintain a preventive approach and to promote initiatives that encourage a greater environmental responsibility, seeking more efficiency in our material resources.
That is why, in the last few years, we have committed ourselves to the renewal of our fleet and currently we have the first dredger, registered in Spain, which complies with the IMO TIER III regulation from the International Maritime Organization on control and reduction of polluting emissions of NOx (nitrogen oxide) and greenhouse effect.
Likewise, we try to favor the development and promotion of technologies that respect the environment and we have collaborated on the ECODRAGA Project to create a team that reduces turbidity during dredging work.
In Canlemar we want to offer a safe and healthy workplace and we have a Sustainability, Quality, Environment and Safety Policy based on a preventive approach in order to carry out our work in the safest way possible.
In order to achieve it, we have a ISO 45001 compliance certificate that allows us to integrate the Safety Management Systems (SGS) of each ship with the general objectives of the company.

We support and respect the Protection of fundamental human rights internationally acknowledged and we make sure that no way of abuse or violation of those rights takes place where we operate.
We select our Suppliers, contractors and collaborators under the criteria of responsibility, objectivity and no discrimination, with the aim of complying with our Code of Conduct.
In Canlemar we do not accept any type of discrimination in the professional field. We have an Equality plan and specific conduct protocols to avoid all kinds of discriminatory or violent behavior.
